Orthodontist Serving Melbourne

Having teeth that line up the way they should is about more than just having a beautiful smile. A well-aligned bite also helps you enjoy better oral and overall health — and that’s important for patients of all ages. Whether you are interested in traditional braces for your child or a more subtle option like Invisalign for yourself, we are happy to offer a range of orthodontic options for Melbourne patients of all ages. Keep reading to find out which one may be best for you.

Traditional Orthodontics

This method is probably what you think about when you hear “braces.” With traditional orthodontics, metal brackets are affixed to the front surfaces of the teeth, and wires threaded through them are progressively tightened to bring the teeth into the proper alignment.

Invisalign® Clear Braces

Patients who prefer to straighten their teeth without visible metal hardware can benefit from Invisalign clear braces. This option uses a series of clear plastic aligners, which place focused pressure on different parts of the bite throughout the treatment. Invisalign aligners are removable and practically invisible. Over the course of about a year, on average, the teeth can be repositioned.

Some patients can benefit from Fastbraces, an accelerated orthodontic option that works by moving the tooth’s root and its crown at the same time. In some cases, treatments can be completed in as few as four months!

Propel & Acceledent

Propel and Acceledent are options that have been cleared by the FDA to accelerate orthodontic treatment times. Acceledent is a special device that is placed around the braces for 20 minutes daily. During this daily application, small vibrations encourage faster movement of the tooth roots, which reduces the overall treatment time. Propel, on the other hand, is a treatment that is performed just a few times in our office. We apply the tool to stimulate bone movement that allows your teeth to shift around more quickly.
